Topic: ‘Memories & History’

(Make sure you introduce yourselves as necessary, perhaps joined to the first question. Also remember that are free to talk about anything you like!)

  1. Did you ever forget something really important? What happened?

  2. What is oldest thing that you enjoy remembering?

  3. If there is something special you want to remember, how do you record that memory (eg journal, photos, video)? How often do you revisit those memories?

  4. Cameras are often marketed as being able to capture your special moments. What kind of camera do you prefer to use (digital, traditional, video)? What are good points and bad points about that type compared to others?

  5. How do you remember what things you need to do each day? (eg lists, alarms, write on your hand, etc)

  6. What strategies do you use to remember things for an exam?

  7. What are some favourite memories you would like to share with the group?

  8. Do you like watching historical documentaries, or movies based around historical events? Or reading historical books? Tell us about one you enjoyed!

  9. Perhaps it could be said that museums act like memories for a whole society. What do you think about that statement? How important do you think museums are, and how often do you ever visit one?

  10. When was the last time you went to a museum? What did you see there? What do you remember the most?

  11. How important do you think it is for people to know about their own family history as well as the history of their country etc?

  12. Share some historical events that are significant to you, whether it is your family history or national, cultural or other history.
